The Trump Organization has joined forces with Dubai-based luxury real estate developer Dar Global to develop the Trump International Hotel Maldives.
The property will be the Trump Organization's first in the Maldives. The two companies are also billing it as the world's first "tokenized" hotel development project.
In real estate, tokenization generally refers to the conversion of property ownership into digital tokens on a blockchain. Although real estate tokenization traditionally involves completed assets, the Trump International Hotel Maldives will be tokenized during its development phase, giving "investors the opportunity to participate in a high-growth, premium real estate project from inception," according to Dar Global.
Expected to open by the end of 2028, the property will be located approximately 25 minutes by speedboat from Male. The luxury resort is set to feature approximately 80 beach and overwater villas.
The project represents an ongoing partnership between the Trump Organization and Dar Global. The pair have a flurry of projects already in the pipeline, including the Trump Tower Jeddah and the Trump Plaza Jeddah mixed-use developments in Saudi Arabia, the Trump International Oman luxury resort, the Trump International Hotel & Tower Dubai hotel and residences and the Trump International Golf Club Doha in Qatar.
The Trump Organization's expansion of its Trump Hotels portfolio comes after a period of contraction for the brand. Trump Hotels currently has eight hotels and resorts in Miami, New York, Chicago, Las Vegas, Virginia, Ireland and Scotland.
In addition to its hospitality projects in Oman, Dubai and the Maldives, the Trump Organization has announced plans for hotels in Bali and Vietnam.
