Tour operator Tauck will shutter its sales and reservations teams in Australia next year, folding the operations into its global network.

Tauck will close its Australia sales office

The company said the change would "better align resources for the company's continued growth." The closure will go into effect in stages. The sales team will remain in place until March 31, while the reservations team will close after Dec. 15. It is unclear how many employees will be affected.

Tauck will serve Australian travel advisors and guests with its global sales and reservations teams in Wilton, Conn.

Steve Spivak, Tauck's vice president of global sales and service, said after a "thoughtful review" of the company's global operations, Tauck determined it could better serve guests and partners through this reorganization.

"Although this is a fundamental step to optimize our resources and strategic growth from a business perspective, I would also like to take this opportunity to personally acknowledge the unparalleled passion of our Australian team, which has been led by David Clark," Spivak said. "Over the past six years, David and the team have been incredibly dedicated and committed to the Tauck brand, which has made a real impact in this region, and I thank them sincerely."
