The 527-room Hilton Miami Downtown has reopened its doors after completing the first phase of a $35 million face-lift. The hotel is located on the site of the former Omni International Mall, just a short distance from the downtown area's best shopping, cultural hubs and nightlife.

Renovated areas include the guestrooms, meetings and events spaces, restaurant and lobby areas. The overall feel of the property is ultracontemporary, gleaning influence from modern art, fashion and technology. The renovation was designed by Atlanta firm Hirsch Bedner Associates.

The rooms, which include 37 suites and four presidential suites, feature new designs, including the signature Hilton Serenity Bed and floor-to-ceiling windows with views of the Miami skyline. Brisa Bistro, the revamped on-site restaurant by executive chef Didier Pouzier, features a fusion of Caribbean, South American and European cuisine. The Club Level Lounge is also redesigned, featuring panoramic views of Miami from the 16th floor of the hotel.

A second phase of the renovation continues with the rooftop pool and accompanying bar and grill restaurant, currently named CityVu, plus a lounge space. The second phase will be completed sometime this year, according to a hotel spokesman.
