The Henry Kapono Foundation, founded by award-winning Hawaiian entertainer Henry Kapono and his wife, Lezlee Kaaihue, launched a monthlong music festival in September.
The festival, called Home in the Islands, features over 50 music events, including concerts, livestreams and films, taking place on Oahu, the Big Island of Hawaii and Maui. Some of the live performances are by notable musicians like John Keawe, Jerry Santos, Brother Noland, Mark Yamanaka, Kimie Miner, Robi Kahakalau and Kapono himself.
"Home in the Islands isn't just a festival -- it's a movement," Kapono said in a news release. "It's about celebrating the music, people and spirit of Hawaii, while creating opportunities for musicians to build fulfilling careers here at home or abroad -- by choice, not necessity."
