Tickets are on sale for the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino's re-creation of Elvis Presley's iconic "Aloha from Hawaii" broadcast, which will be performed in the property's International Theater on Jan. 14.
The broadcast was viewed by an estimated 1.5 billion people in 36 countries when it aired in 1973. Tribute artist Travis Powell will perform the same setlist in the same theater where Presley performed more than 636 sold-out shows during a residency there (the property was known as the International Hotel at the time).
"From the white jumpsuit to the roaring brass section and emotional ballads, this show isn't just a tribute, it's a time machine," said Cami Christensen, president and general manager of Westgate Las Vegas. "It captures the energy, soul and spectacle of Elvis at his absolute peak."
The Westgate, which hosted two sold-out performances of "1969 Live! -- The King Returns" in July, will also display rare Elvis memorabilia to coincide with the performance that weekend.
Exhibited items will include his stage-worn diamond horseshoe ring from the Aloha concert; his 1954 Starlite Wranglers shirt; a Kempo Karate guitar and belt; and his costumes from his films "Speedway," "Blue Hawaii," and "Girls! Girls! Girls!"
Tickets for the 7 p.m. performance begin at $19 (plus tax and fees). Guests are encouraged to wear Hawaiian shirts and island attire. Room discounts are available with the code "FRIENDS10. A preshow reception from 4 to 5:30 p.m. will feature Hawaiian-themed cocktails. Linda Thompson, a songwriter and actress and a longtime companion of Elvis, will speak at the Ibar Stage as part of the Living Legends Series in the afternoon (time to be announced).
