Atlas Ocean Voyages in 2028 will debut its first expedition sailing yacht, the Atlas Adventurer. The 400-guest ship will have three carbon masts and solid sails, allowing it to operate at zero emissions depending on wind and sea conditions.

The Adventurer will be the first ship in the cruise line's new Atlas class and at 26,000 gross tons and 690 feet long, it will be the largest ship in Atlas' fleet. The line's current three ships are 10,000 gross tons and 423 feet long.

The Atlas Adventurer is under construction and will cruise in Asia and Africa -- new regions for Atlas -- when it begins sailing in late 2028. When not sailing from wind power, the ship will utilize hybrid-electric engines. The Adventurer will be classified as Category C for polar navigation, meaning it will be capable of navigating open polar waters and some ice conditions.

"The yacht is designed to comply with future zero-emission port regulations and can navigate silently, allowing access to some of the most exclusive and restricted small ports around the world," said Mario Ferreira, owner of Atlas' parent company, Mystic Invest Holding.

Ferreira said the ship's cost will be just under $300 million.

The ship will have seven dining options and five bars and lounges, two of which will be outdoors. Atlas will also offer its first educational culinary studio.

The fitness and wellness center will be bigger than what's on Atlas' current ships, and the Adventurer will have a pool, Zodiacs, luxury motorboats and a marina platform with an ocean pool.

All accommodations will be suites, and there will be 275 crew members.

Though Atlas has not yet released full itineraries, it said destinations in Asia will include Japan, South Korea, China, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines. In Africa, the ship will visit the Seychelles, Madagascar, Tanzania, Kenya, Mozambique and South Africa.

Early access reservations for the inaugural season are now available with a $2,000 deposit.

The announcement of Atlas' new ship class follows the launch of new branding last week -- including a new logo -- that is intended to convey the cruise line as a boutique hospitality brand.

Last year, Atlas expanded its sales team following the appointment of Kristian Anderson as executive vice president of global sales.
