Another major luxury hospitality player is moving into New York's Hudson Valley region.
Starwood Hotels plans to open a 1 Hotel in New York's Catskills area, about two hours north of New York City. The 1 Hotel & Homes Hudson Valley will open in 2028.
The 775-acre property in Rosendale, New York, will surround Fifth Lake, a 45-acre spring-fed lake. It will occupy the site of the Williams Lake Hotel, which was built in the 1920s during the Borscht Belt era and demolished in 2015, according to local news reports.
Today, the Hudson Valley is in the midst of a luxury hospitality-and-wellness boom, with properties like Wildflower Farms, Auberge Resorts Collection and wellness retreat The Ranch Hudson Valley entering the market in recent years. Other major brands include Soho House, which is developing Soho Farmhouse New York in Rhinebeck, and One&Only, which unveiled plans for a resort adjacent to the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park.
The 1 Hotel & Homes Hudson Valley will have approximately 100 guestrooms, and a number of branded residences that will go on sale this summer. It will be home to multiple dining venues, a lakefront pavilion with a pool and bar, meeting and event space and a spa.
Starwood said that guests would also have access to experiential programming, including farm-to-table cooking classes, beekeeping tours and outdoor activities across the property's lakes, orchards and trail system.
The 1 Hotels brand has just over a dozen properties.
